About this event
Women in technology represent only 29% of the entire technology workforce. Queensland is facing significant barriers to and shortfalls of, women embracing careers in technology.
Open to primary school students through to ICT executives, this inclusive event aims to create awareness about emerging roles in technology, and pathways available for women interested in pursuing a career or reskilling within ICT.
The event format will entail a diverse panel discussion and networking event held at River City Labs, Fortitude Valley. Offered free of charge to interested members of the public, students, parents, educators and members of the profession, the discussion will highlight and explore career and leadership pathways in tech for women at each and every age, including early, mid and late career options

Pauline Fetaui
Pauline Fetaui is an independent Program Consultant servicing Global and National Tier 1 companies, delivering innovative business and IT solutions backed by her extensive experience in the Finance, IT, Insurance, Superannuation and Government industries.Pauline played a major role in the business growth and optimisation of the operations of Hewlett-Packard, Bupa Australia, MBF, Australian Taxation Office, i4bright, QSuper Group, and Allianz Partners Australia. She applied her expertise on IT, Operations, Customer Service, Marketing, and Branding to take these companies to the next level, streamlining their systems and increasing their overall efficiency. She has helped Hewlett-Packard in developing and enhancing solutions and technologies for Digitisation Services, Lending Operations, Call Centre, People and Change Communications, and Operational Finance. Pauline’s entrepreneurial and creative spirit has allowed her to build her first start-up, CheeHoo, a fully integrated life and virtual personal assistant app, designed to help people hustle smarter and stay connected to people in their lives. She hopes that this app will enable users to reduce social media noise in their lives so they can do things that are important to them and connecting with people they value the most. Her analytical, pragmatic, and strategic approach to business has made her a trusted advisor by local and international organizations. In her years working as a Program Consultant, she has consistently delivered progressive business outcomes. Her highly accountable, results-driven work ethic has not only earned her a good reputation but also made her services in demand by various companies. When not growing her business or transforming other businesses, Pauline spends time in her advocacies. She promotes children’s wellness through charity and research. She supports women’s causes, helps small businesses in developing countries, and would like to move her endeavors more towards awareness on domestic violence both in Australia and in the Pacific Islands. For Pauline, success comes full circle when she’s able to contribute and leave any situation better than when she arrived.

Sue Isbell
Sue Isbell - Head of Department eLearning - Kelvin Grove State College Sue is an experienced Head of Department of nearly 20 years at Kelvin Grove State College, a Prep to Year 12 Independent Public School located 3kms from the Brisbane CBD.Her role is diverse and constantly evolving, with a cross-curriculum and year level focus on digital pedagogy, professional development, and digital tools and systems including the Year 7-12 Bring Your Own Device program. Sue also manages the Middle and Senior Schools Digital Technologies curriculum (including VET qualifications), the Middle Senior Library and reporting.Until recent years, Sue also managed the ICT services and infrastructure program at the College. She is Chair of the Digital Pedagogy and Technology Strategic Committee. The diversity of her role over a long period of time has given Sue a unique insight into all aspects of education in a state school context.With the release of the Digital Technologies national curriculum and more recently the new QCE senior curriculum, Sue has adopted her College Executive Principal’s “raise your gaze” approach in implementation planning. This includes actively seeking opportunities for greater industry (including start-ups) engagement to support students in preparing for their chosen pathways. In partnering with the Australian Computer Society Queensland branch, and the Gateway to Industry – Manufacturing and Engineering Queensland Program (KGSC is the Engineering hub school), a greater focus has been given to trying to establish a talent pipeline into the ICT industry and ICT roles in other industries. This includes encouraging students to consider industry-based alternatives (e.g, vocational qualifications, micro credentialling, internships and/or industry certification), rather than traditional university pathways which may not guarantee employment on graduation.Sue was successful in obtaining 2018 funding for a Tech Ambassador role to support the implementation of the Technology national curriculum and to establish a P-12 DigiSpace to increase staff and student access to new and emerging digital technologies.A successful EQ International Innovation Subsidy application will see a Pepper and an NAO robot added to the Library DigiSpace. Apart from industry activities, Digital Technology students also have the opportunity to engage with entrepreneurship in the start-up eco-system. Students are supported and encouraged to develop their own interest areas and digital solutions and to join the “student expert” teams which support the BYOX program, the DigiSpace and activities.Sue recently won the national ACS Digital Disruptors Awards, in the ICT Educator of the Year category. Her engagement with industry and the start-up community has enabled her to develop a broad understanding of the challenges each sector faces, and to help to build bridges between the sectors in the different partnerships, programs and activities she facilitates and participates in.Late last year Sue participated in the ACS Queensland branch’s ICT in Education forum, which resulted in the White Paper the current webinar series is based on.

Sannidhi Bosamia, who likes to go by Sanni (as in ‘a sunny day’), is a 19-year-old software engineering student at the University of Queensland (UQ). She started her journey into the world of programming when she came to UQ in July 2018, and has since had various opportunities, such as tutoring CSSE1001, the introductory programming course at UQ, interning at FuseWorks, and is currently on the executive committee of the UQ Computing Society (UQCS).

Lynne Cawley is a successful, solution-focused HR and Operations professional and the Group Executive, People & Operations at Canstar.Established 25 years ago, Canstar is Australia’s biggest financial comparison website whose purpose is to simplify the world of finance and help consumers confidently find the right product for them. In 2010, we expanded our services and launched Canstar Blue to provide customer satisfaction research and ratings for consumer products and services including energy, telco, NBN, appliances and much more.Lynne is responsible for fostering across both brands the company’s culture, encouraging employee engagement and developing and leading the implementation of Canstar’s operational strategy to drive business goals through quality research and technological advancements.With a degree in psychology at QUT and having specialised in organisational psychology, Lynne established the human resources function at Canstar. Lynne has expanded this role in recent years to now head up the entire operations function, leading the People & Culture, Research, Product Data, Data Platform Services and Site Reliability teams.Lynne’s leadership role sees her managing the back-end technology platforms that power many of Canstar’s data initiatives including the company’s Star Ratings research, product database and data feeds to the website. Her teams are also responsible for building resilience into the Canstar technology infrastructure and applications. This includes managing the company’s website stability, tech partnerships and cloud services. Having spent the majority of her career working in the financial services industry, Lynne is the first to highlight the career opportunities and the job satisfaction that comes from working in a digital company like Canstar where your purpose is to empower consumers to make better purchase decisions.

Jackie French is the operations manager for the Faculty of Creative Arts and Digital Design at TAFE Queensland’s Brisbane Region. Jackie is a passionate educator who has worked in education for 20 years. Jackie holds a Master’s Degree in information Security and Computer Crime and she worked within the UK High Tech Crime Unit on her Master’s thesis. Jackie has held a variety of teaching and senior management positions within vocational and higher education organisations in Australia and overseas. Jackie’s current role sees her leading the introduction of dual sector education teams in the creative arts and information technology.

Teena has worked in the technology industry in Brisbane for the past twenty years, following an early career in medical research. She has worked as a software engineer, project and program manager and is currently the Director of SaaS Programs at Technology One, a top 150 ASX listed company. Teena is passionate about supporting the development of her team and nurturing their growth as technology professionals, whilst continually innovating to deliver great outcomes for customers. She is also a strong advocate for women in technology and has mentored numerous school teams as part of the "Tech Girls are Superheroes" competition.

Registration
- Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
- To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.

Cancellation and Refund
All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions
- If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
- If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
- We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
- ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
- All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
