Cyber Security Public Lecture with Corey Schou

UQ Cyber Security, AusCERT, the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and the Australian Computer Society Qld are excited to be hosting Professor Corey Schou to present a public lecture during his short stay in Brisbane. Inducted in 2019 to the U.S.. Cyber Security Hall of Fame, Professor Schou continues to shape cyber security education and training across the globe.

<p>Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Schou has been pivotal in developing secure information systems for global organisations including Microsoft, General Motors and Federal Express. He currently serves as a Professor of Information Systems at Idaho State University and has been responsible for developing a distinguished body of knowledge in information systems security used by over 250 colleges and universities in the U.S.<br><br>In his talk Professor Schou will address:</p> <ul><li>Current trends and issues in cybersecurity</li><li>What is required in cyber education to address current skills gaps?</li><li>The roles of academic qualifications and professional certifications in the cyber industry</li><li>Future directions in cybersecurity education, and the landscape in general</li></ul> Following this talk, drinks and canapes will be served so please advise of any dietary requirements.<br><br>We hope you will be able to join us.

Corey Schou

Dr. Schou is a teacher who also is an author and researcher. One of the founders of (ISC)2.He is the University Professor of Informatics and serves as the director of the Informatics Research Institute and the National Information Assurance Training and Education Center (NIATEC).He has served as the Chair of the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE). The Colloquium creates an environment for exchange and dialogue among leaders in government, industry and academia concerning the need for and utility of information security and information assurance education.He received the Lifetime Service Award from ISU.In 2003, Dr. Schou was appointed as the University Professor of Informatics and in 2002 Dr. Schou was selected as the Outstanding Public Servant for his sustained contributions.Dr. Schou was the 2001 recipient of the (ISC)2 Tipton award for outstanding contribution to the computer security discipline.In 1997 he received the TechLearn award for contributions to distance education.He was selected as the 1996 Educator of the Year by the Federal Information Systems Security Educators Association and the ISSA service award.He had served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of (ISC)2 and the Asian Advisory Board.Specialities: Information AssuranceInstructional Systems DesignSystems DesignComputer Security

Registration

  • Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
  • To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
  • Online registration ends at the time stated on the event registration page.

Cancellation and Refund

All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.

  • ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
  • All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
  • ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
  • Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
