Gavin Keeley

Venture Builder, Non-Executive Director, and Chair 

Gavin Keeley is an experienced technologist and business leader with a career spanning 4 decades in international consultancy and executive corporate roles across a diverse range of industry sectors, working in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. 
He has been at the (b)leading edge of commercializing emergent technologies, from the advent of the Personal Computer, through internet, cloud computing, to pioneering the commercial deployment of emergent Large Language Model AI and computer vision in classified Defence Intelligence projects since 2015.He has consistently been an early adopter, and has been featured in articles, and spoken at conferences for several decades. 

He has continually supported Queensland for instance having researched, then lobbied Federal, State, and Local Government for seven years, to establish an undersea fibre optic connection direct to the internet, with the network finally commissioned and operational in March 2020. He co-founded the Silicon Coast group in 2014, which has over 2,000 supporters, where he continues to mentor founders and support the growth of the region’s Digital Economy, and has also served as The President of SunCoast Angels. 
In 2018, he was made a member of the Queensland Pearcey Entrepreneur Hall of Fame then in 2021 was inducted as a Fellow into the Australian Computer Society Hall of Fame for his distinguished contribution to the field of ICT in Australia, and in 2022 he was given a special achievement award by the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur for consistently contributing to a connected and inclusive Queensland innovation ecosystem. 
He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of The Sunshine Coast, serving as a current member of the Planning and Resources Committee of the University Council and was recently appointed Chair of Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast, by Federal Minister Kristy McBain MP. 

In 2023 he joined Flower Group as Venture Partnerships Director where he is currently working with CSIRO to commercialise their considerable IP catalogue.

Founder of Acenci | 2023 Westpac Young Technologist 

Joshua is a university student and business owner who founded Acenci, a Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) business, in 2022. Acenci is the developer and seller of PointDash, a house points management system for schools, aimed at fostering healthy competition and building house culture. 
 
Joshua is studying a Bachelor of Engineering and Information Technology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) where he has been recognized as a Dean’s Scholar and awarded the Westpac Young Technologist scholarship. He is an Assistant Web Developer and Student Ambassador for QUT and is committed to sharing his passion for technology with others. In his role as an Australian Computer Society (ACS) Young Tech Ambassador, Joshua regularly visits schools to talk about his experiences and inspire the next generation of tech enthusiasts. Other initiatives include the development (concept to delivery) of a student-led STEAM conference and after-school program called Launch, which continues to inspire students today.
 
Joshua's aim is to create privacy-focused, user-friendly solutions that enhance wellbeing and make advanced technologies accessible to everyone.

Registration

  • Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
  • To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
  • Online registration ends at the time stated on the event registration page.

Cancellation and Refund

All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.

Disclaimer

  • ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
  • All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
  • ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
  • Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
  • Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.

COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance

By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions

  • If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
  • If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
  • We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
  • ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
  • All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
