About this event

The 24th Australian System Safety Conference is organised by the Australian Safety Systems Critical Association (aSCSa), a Special Interest Group of the Australian Computer Society.

The theme for the 2019 conference is “How can we be artificially safe?” or how can we be safe with artificial intelligence technologies, including simulations, model-based systems engineering, auto code generation and checking, agile development, machine learning, perception systems and the Internet of Things.

Are we able to derive safety requirements for such systems and achieve adequate assurance of compliance initially and continuously for a dynamic safety case? Are traditional safety by design programs and system review constructs sufficient?

The aSCSa invites representatives from Industry, project agencies and academia to participate at this conference to learn, discuss, debate and challenge on how we can rely, or should we rely on artificial intelligence technologies for safety.

Past conferences were attended by representatives from Medicine and health (medical devices, e-health systems etc.), Transport, Defence and Aviation, Telecommunications, Energy, Security, Resource and process industries, and Emergency services.

Like previous conferences the two-day conference will be on 23rd and 24th May 2019 and will be preceded by a tutorial day on 22nd May 2019.

For further information and technical program can be found on the aSCSa website.

Note, separate registration is required for the tutorials being held on Wednesday, 22 May. Register for the tutorials here.
