The MACS Uplift process allows eligible Associate Members (AACS) to self-initiate their upgrade to full Member of the ACS (MACS). This process provides a straightforward way to advance membership and access to new benefits and opportunities.
A key advantage of MACS is an increased ability to influence standards, directions and public policy across the ICT sector. A MACS Member may nominate to join ACS boards and committees, may contribute to ACS activities and events or may influence standards and government policy submissions. Such involvement allows members to use their expertise and contribute to the decision-making progress that impact the future of the sector.
It is no longer necessary for an AACS member to obtain an ACS professional certification assessment or pay a fee to become a MACS. Why not take this up?
Members who upgrade to MACS may use the postnominal MACS, signifying their enhanced status within the ACS community.
To make it easy to upgrade, ACS has flexible criteria for the MACS Uplift process. Associate Members who have celebrated ten years of ACS membership will be automatically upgraded to MACS . For those with less than ten years of membership, specific combinations of qualifications and experience are considered to meet the requirements for the MACS upgrade.
The MACS Uplift process underscores ACS’s commitment to recognising and supporting the professional growth of members. This helps enhance the professional journeys of members and empower them to have impact in their field.

Can I become MACS Snr through the MACS Uplift process?
No, the MACS Uplift allows members to upgrade their membership from AACS to MACS. Members who are not yet Certified Professionals and wish to be recognized as Senior Members of ACS (MACS Snr) must first apply for ACS Certified Professional (CP) status. If an applicant meets the criteria for Senior Member during the assessment, their membership grade will be upgraded accordingly at that time.
