The ACS Digital Pulse 2021 report highlights that women continue to be significantly underrepresented in the technology workforce, making up only 29% of the workforce and the figure is growing by less than 1% every year.
The report finds that increasing gender diversity in the technology workforce could grow the Australian economy by $1.8 billion per year on average, over the next 20 years. In employment terms, this would create almost 5,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs.
One of the other biggest discrepancies noticed in the ICT sector across all industries is the poor representation of female leadership and in senior management roles.
This panel of established leaders and professionals will discuss some ways we can and should increase the number of female leaders in the technology, entrepreneurship and innovation sectors. They will also share their personal experience, journeys and insight on how they reached their management positions, and how they broke through the glass ceiling.

Speakers
Lucy is a strategic growth advisor and helps entrepreneurs, scaling businesses, and established organisations navigate through business growth, digital transformation and commercialisation strategies. She is passionate about the customer, emerging technologies and encouraging companies to think globally and outside the box. Lucy works in partnership with founders, startups, small-medium size businesses, non-profits, universities, corporations, and the government on market testing, new business models, go-to-market, funding and international expansion engagements. With an extensive marketing background (American Express, Qantas Airways, HERE Technologies, Linklaters Law), Lucy is also a two times founder with an award-winning mobile app and a global marketing consultancy. She is a global citizen and deeply understands the international audience and landscape having worked in Australia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and the UK. Lucy is a strong believer in diversity, and is a proud woman in tech, bringing fresh thinking and alternative ideas to any board and team. An advocate for education, Lucy also holds a Master of Commerce (majoring in Marketing and Strategic Management), a Communications undergraduate degree and is currently the President of the University of Sydney Business School Alumni Network.
Rupert Grayston is the ACS CEO. Following an 11-year stint at Engineers Australia as the Executive General Manager of Professional Standards and Practice, Rupert held roles at the Office of Professional Standards Council and the Australian Property Institute. Rupert holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Engineering Management.

Sally is a passionate teacher with a diverse CV. Sally has worked in banking, advertising, high school and now in technology education. Her particular areas of interest include looking for innovative ways of linking industry and education, getting students ready for the work market by equipping them with relevant skills and helping teachers become more confident with technology.
Belinda has spent over 15 years working in professional services, both as a client-facing professional and leading their innovation, strategy and operations teams.
As EY's Asia-Pacific Tax Innovation Hub Leader, she works as a corporate innovator and intrapreneur. Her purpose is to help incubate emerging technologies and products that make impact, drive efficiencies and create better experiences for EY's clients and employees. She is also the leader for the EY Foundry, an early stage start-up incubator that operates across Australia, New Zealand and ASEAN.
A passionate D&I advocate, she is a co-founder of Women in Innovation Sydney, which is a community network comprising more than 350 female founders, corporate innovators, designers and creatives. She is also an active member of EY's cultural diversity network which nurtures and promotes culturally and linguistically diverse leaders.

Registration
- Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
- To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
- Online registration ends at the time stated on the event registration page.
Cancellation and Refund
All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.
Disclaimer
- ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
- All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
- ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
- Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
- Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.
COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance
By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions
- If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
- If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
- We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
- ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
- All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
