Learning outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will:

  • Have a refreshed understanding the concepts of SFIA in the context of skills assessment: - the capability model - skills, knowledge, behaviours and experience - the structure of SFIA - where to find out more (SFIA website) - assessment guidance
  • Understand: the differences of knowledge, skill, competence - what can be assessed using the SFIA framework - different types of and approaches to assessment - what is needed for an effective assessment scheme - evidence requirements for different approaches to assessment - the role of an assessor
  • Be able to: - prepare for an effective assessment - assess professional skills and levels of responsibility using the SFIA framework - conduct an effective assessment following an agreed approach
  • Deal with common issues that may occur during assessments
  • Provide timely and credible feedback on an assessment

This one-day workshop has been designed, using SFIA, for people who will be assessing the knowledge, skills, competence and behaviours of anyone in a tech or digital or related role. This can be assessing or validating, or providing skills benchmarking:
