Speakers
Josh, a seasoned executive with 30+ years in IT and Telecommunications, is a transformation specialist known for doubling revenues and building high-performance teams.
As a CEO, VP, and Sales Director, he achieved a remarkable 183% revenue growth, leading to the $1 billion sale of Metronode Data Centres. Instrumental in Optus Business, he drove a 500% growth in government portfolio orders and transformed the ICT Portfolio from $100 million to $500 million annually.
Committed to talent development, he boasts an 85% internal promotion rate. With a focus on strategic execution and visionary leadership, Josh is a driving force in the ICT industry.
Rod is a highly motivated catalyst of digital change, he is results focussed and has an inclusive leadership style He is an Industry Fellow at The University of Melbourne where he researches and lectures in Higher Degree programmes. He has authored over 20 publications and a book on Organisational Change. Consequently, he is a sought-after expert for leading companies confronting challenges brought about by disruptive technologies and the need to transform organisational cultures to adopt radically different paradigms of work and the creation of value.
Rod is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society, A Fellow of the British Computer Society, former National Director of the ACS Membership Advisory Board and was recognised as the ICT Professional of the year, 2013 in the national iAwards.
Helen McHugh is one of Australia’s leading women in technology, having been elected National President of ACS last November.
ACS, the Australian Computer Society, is the voice of Australia’s technology sector, representing over 49,000 ICT professionals working in all parts of the nation’s economy and society.
Helen is the second female President in ACS’s nearly sixty-year history following the late Brenda Aynsley, OAM, who led the organisation between 2014 and 15.
Commencing her study to be a Librarian which was a broad degree, as she was not sure what she wanted to do. The degree included computing Helen quickly decided that computing was of greater interest, and it meant she would follow the footsteps of her father – one of the colleagues of Australian computing pioneer Trevor Pearcey.
Her professor at Canberra University was thrilled as he had a candidate follow Librarianship (Information Management) and Computing automated Information Management. This led her to graduating with double majors in both fields and added a sub-major of Economics.
Helen went on to build over forty-years’ experience in public and private sector technology, service delivery and project management. Her professional focus has always been on Data, standards and frameworks, professionalism that has held her in strong stead and well respected as she has moved through her career. She holds Practitioner level Agile and Prince project management certifications.
Along the way she had two children while maintaining her career trajectory.
“It’s a great privilege to be elected President of ACS,” said Ms McHugh. “As the peak body for Australia’s IT profession, ACS represents both the heritage and the future of the nation’s technology sector.
“On a personal level, being elected President is a great honour given my father worked with Trevor Pearcey, one of the great pioneers of Australian computing. I’m hoping we can build on those foundations to grow ACS’s member base.
“I’m also focused on how we can deliver more value for members for the sector and boost ACS’ engagement with other groups and associations to amplify the technology sector’s positions.”
Helen is passionate about championing and promoting women not just in IT, but across all walks of life. She also sees one of her key tasks of dispelling the stigma that succeeding in a technology career means you have to be a maths genius.
“Tech is not just a ‘boy thing’ – we need to blow that thinking up. Tech is logical and follows standards. Also, tech pays well! We also have to market tech better. Tech is very female- and family-friendly especially now that we can work virtually,” says Helen.

Registration
- Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
- To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
- Online registration ends at the time stated on the event registration page.
Cancellation and Refund
All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.

- ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
- All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
- ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
- Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
- Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.
COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance
By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions
- If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
- If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
- We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
- ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
- All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
