Information Security - Ransomware and its challenges - Thursday 10 March
Wednesday, 02 Mar 2016
Wednesday, 02 Mar 2016
Ransomware is a type of virus which encrypts all or most of the files on an infected device or network, using mostly Advance Encryption Standard. It then demands a ransom from data owner to pay by Bitcoin anonymous service to decrypt that information.
Most antivirus applications are not able to stop the ransomware or all versions due to the limitation with signature and heuristic approach that antivirus applications use. There is need for additional security measures by implementing multi-layer security design for end users to protect their data.
The presenter will discuss the challenges related to ransomware virus and explain a multi-layer security design to defend against it.
