At ACS, our shared purpose is to serve our members and secure Australia’s technological future.

Our talented teams work collaboratively with our members who operate in business, education, government and the community.

Building Australia’s future technology workforce requires great diversity, collaboration, creativity and passion.

Here is an overview of what our different teams do, and the breadth of careers that exist at ACS.

Workforce development helps business and industry promote organisational capability. Some of the work we do includes:

• developing consistent job descriptions and role expectations for technology workers

• presenting career pathways and identifying skills mobility opportunities across organisations

• enhancing alignment of skills (and people) to job roles

• optimising skills utilisation, and project capability.

The Education team delivers accredited and non-accredited training through a registered training organisation. Key activities and programs include:

• graduate readiness programs

• Diploma of IT (DIT)

• short courses

• community of practice for educators

• running virtual internships and work-integrated learning

• assisting secondary and tertiary institutions with industry engagement, technology programs and curricula.

Our IT team supports ACS, delivering the tools we need to run our innovation, career development and promotional activities. The team builds and maintains the collaborative, assessment and information tools that are used by staff as well as members. Some of the things we do include:

• aligning technology solutions to meet ACS’s organisational objectives.

• providing technology guidance and support to our internal staff

• providing a reliable and available technology experience to our members.

The M&P team is responsible for strategy, systems, processes, and tracking for a variety of services in ACS, including:

• member insights, leading to a data-driven, member-centric approach to decision-making

• product and service development

• developing and leading member acquisition, engagement, and retention activity

• account management to develop current and new partnerships

• major national events.

The CAPP team is dedicated to providing news and information to members and the public as well as engaging in policy development and advocacy. Our activities include:

• up to date news and information services

• media relations

• government relations and advocacy, including policy development

• publications and white papers

• internal communications

• member relations and consultation.

The P&C team’s goal is to empower our employees and create enduring business success by cultivating a psychologically safe and high-performance culture for all to thrive in. We support our leaders and employees with proactive advice, coaching, programs, and initiatives designed to meet the needs of the business, our people and our members. P&C drives many initiatives to support and foster the ACS teams, including:

• attracting, selecting, and retaining the best talent to help drive a high-performance culture

• focusing on continuously improving employee engagement by means of continued feedback and providing transparency

• facilitating and driving a psychologically safe environment where people can bring their authentic selves to work

• building diversity and inclusion within ACS

• providing learning and development opportunities

• promoting and improving safety, mental health, and overall wellbeing of our people

• establishing a meaningful employee value proposition (EVP) that includes generous benefits, rewards and recognition.

The PSAS team is dedicated to improving and certifying the skills of members and applicants. Its job includes:

• assessing migrant ICT professionals to ensure they meet the relevant standards for their occupation

• evaluating and accrediting Australian higher education courses in ICT

• managing and issuing ACS Certifications for ICT professionals and the ACS Trustmark for ICT businesses

• monitoring, enforcing and improving the professional standards of members under the Professional Standards Scheme.

ACS has a network of innovation labs to give Australia’s best tech startups the platform to become Australia’s next global unicorn success story. Staff at Labs are dedicated to ensuring that Australia’s new technology businesses have the best chance possible to succeed.

Our Labs include:

• Harbour City Labs (HCL) - Sydney

• Bay City Labs (BCL) - Melbourne

• River City Labs (RCL) – Brisbane

ADMA is the largest marketing peak body in Australia, with 600 brands and over 28,000 individuals in the community. We help those people and organisations by:

• promoting in-depth understanding of issues in regulation, education, creativity and customers

• advocating on behalf of the industry and promoting world-class thinking

• assisting members to navigate the changing landscape

• inspiring collaboration and facilitating idea-sharing for more intelligent marketing

• helping industry leaders grow, guide and shape new generations on the right path to successful careers.

IAPA (Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia) is the only analytics association in Australia.

We promote the growing strategic role played by data analytics in business. We’re committed to increasing the understanding of analytics’ role in transformation and data-driven decision-making as well as developing recognition of analytics professionals in the wider business community. This includes establishing standards of practice, excellence, accreditation and education.

ACS has branches in every state and territory, dedicated to serving the local needs of our members. These branches and branch staff provide:

• localised services for members

• regional events and gatherings, with over 200 per year between the branches

• a place where members can work, run meetings and engage with ACS as well as other members.

Our wellbeing benefits

Sometimes combining life and work can be challenging, which is why we offer benefits to help you find the right balance for you.

Parental leave: At ACS we aim to create inclusive and flexible workplaces that support and enable all parents to take an active role in caring for their family and giving their children the best start in life.

Families come in all shapes and sizes, which is why our policies are designed to support all parents. ACS offers all employees who have completed 12 consecutive months of employment 8 weeks of parental paid leave full time or 16 weeks part time over a 24-month period. ACS will also continue to contribute superannuation when parents take unpaid leave for up to 52 weeks, which is inclusive of the 8 weeks of paid leave.

Christmas leave: Enjoy Christmas that little bit more with 2-3 additional leave days during our close period.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Sometimes life issues just happen, and you need a bit of extra support. Our EAP program provides confidential access to counselling support 24/7 for sustainable wellbeing. ACS also offers its employees 1 RUOK day to recharge your batteries.

Hybrid work environment: ACS promotes a hybrid work environment to allow employees to juggle work and their home lives. Employees can combine working from home and in the office to suit their individual needs. To promote team collaboration and innovation, we encourage a 40% rule. Two days a week in the office with the team, the other three work from anywhere.
