About this event
ACS Workshops will facilitate learning with “key takeaways” that are “actionable”, whereby participants can take back learnings to their respective organisations and/or roles.
The workshops will be delivered by professional facilitators and will provide direct access to high quality peer networking opportunities as well as key business leaders across the ICT industry. Each participant will have the opportunity to create and develop a personal action plan throughout the series, which aims to provide participants with real, tangible outcomes to accelerate their career growth. Workshops will range from 15-25 participants at each session.
It is envisaged that members may not attend all four workshops, and therefore these have been designed with this in mind.
Workshop - Empowering Teams and Organisations to Become Diversity Agile
It seems that these days everybody knows that culturally and demographically diverse teams perform better than more homogenous teams. However, building an inclusive organisation that knows how to leverage the unique strengths of staff diversity to the benefits of everyone is another matter entirely.
In this workshop, Cultural Infusion facilitators Nivy Balachandran and Martin Plowman will discuss the “diversity within diversity” and how different types of diversity may impact working styles. He will present the Diversity Agile Framework that outlines how teams and organisations can benefit from becoming competent across the three workplace dimensions of diversity, mutuality and inclusion. Workshop attendees will gain an understanding about:
- The key characteristics of a Diversity Agile team or organisation
- How different types of diversity may impact working styles
- How organisations can begin building more Diversity Agile teams (including sample activities that can be used to understand different working styles and encourage discussion)
- How to respond to current diversity trends in the workforce
The workshop is underpinned by the Diversity Agile Framework for diversity and inclusion developed by Cultural Infusion. The Diversity Agile framework was designed and implemented in Melbourne for teams and organisations working in an increasingly diverse and globalised world.

ACS asks any members or guests returning from international travel, or that are currently in self-quarantine for the Coronavirus disease (CoIvD-19), following the return from, or transit through, countries on the watch list that include China, Korea, Iran, Italy, Japan, France, Germany, Spain and Kuwai, to refrain or been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 must isolate themselves for 14 days after leaving China, or within 14 days after last contact with a confirmed case to please not attend the event in the interests of the health and safety of other participants.

Speakers
In addition to her Masters of Law (JD), Nivy also holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Masters of Arts in Development Studies. She has lived in countries as far apart as Qatar, Switzerland, Venezuela and India. This rich lived experience across many diverse cultures has given Nivy a unique and nuanced perspective on diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and she brings this passion and understanding to her work in challenging stereotypes and fostering intercultural appreciation.
Over the past decade he has worked in the diversity, mutuality and inclusion sector with a focus on public health, workforce development and strategic planning. He has led the development of major projects including the HealthWest Partnership Standards for Workforce Mutuality, an innovative workplace tool designed to guide organizations in building the capacity of their workforce to better reflect the diversity of the community. Martin’s goal as a facilitator is to empower organisations to find better and more equitable ways to harness the power of diversity, and in doing so to achieve beneficial outcomes for organisations, consumers and community. He is also a published author – a travel-book based on his Ph.D. thesis, The UFO Diaries: Travels in the Weird World of High Strangeness, looked at the worldwide belief in UFOs and flying saucers and was published by Allen & Unwin in 2011 to strong sales and positive reviews. It has since been translated into Bulgarian.

Registration
- Payment in full is required the time of booking in order for the registration to be valid.
- To avoid disappointment, ensure you pay for your booking(s) before the registration closing date. Anyone that has not received a confirmation email will not be on the event attendance list and therefore will not be admitted to the event.
- Online registration ends at the time stated on the event details page.
Cancellation and Refund
All cancellations must be processed through the website, a refund will only be considered if it is at least 3 working days prior to the event.

- ACS reserves the right to change the program at any time. Every effort will be made to ensure a program of equivalent standard and members are updated with changes.
- All dietary requirements are considered, however we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free environment.
- ACS reserves the right to prohibit entry or eject any person from an ACS event based on behaviour deemed inappropriate by ACS staff, its agents and/or others working under its authority.
- Filming or streaming by attendees is not permitted. If an attendee is found to be doing so they will be asked to leave the event immediately and further action may be taken.
- Photography and/or filming may take place during this event, by accepting these terms you consent to this. Please let a member of ACS know if you do not want your picture taken.
COVID-19 Event Attendance Compliance
By registering to attend an ACS in person event you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions
- If an attendee is displaying flu or cold like symptoms in the days leading up to the event and therefore is not able to attend, ACS will refund the registration fee.
- If an attendee comes to an event and is displaying flu or cold like symptoms they will be asked to leave
- We ask all ACS members to respect the social distancing guidelines, if an attendee repeatedly disregards these guidelines, they may be asked to leave
- ACS reserves the right to cancel the event within 24 hours' notice if either the speaker or the event host has advised us that they are exhibiting flu or cold like symptoms
- All attendees must provide a valid phone number and email address to be contacted on if there is reason to notify about a possible COVID-19 exposure
