About this event

The aim of the ACS Masterclass: Emerging Leaders series is to provide new and emerging ICT leaders with relevant and engaging seminars on career development best practices, peer-to-peer networking, and dialogue with senior executives from industry-leading companies. ACS Masterclass: Emerging Leaders series will help tomorrow’s leaders develop the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to be global pacesetters in our industry.

This four-part series will take place across a four week period, with each session running on a Monday evening for 2 hours, and involving interactive activities and outcome based learning. The program must be purchased as a whole, and registrations are not available for individual sessions. These events are aimed at professionals who are looking to develop as leaders or transitioning into managerial positions.
 
All workshops will be delivered by professional facilitator, Maree Burgess and will provide direct access to high quality peer networking opportunities as well as key business leaders across the ICT industry. Each participant will have the opportunity to create and develop a personal action plan throughout the series, which aims to provide participants with real, tangible outcomes to accelerate their career growth.

Monday 19 July 2021 | Masterclass 1 - Making Relationships Better

How we relate to others at work and other areas of our life affects our ability to get things done effectively. We all have different behavioural styles which determines how we think, make decisions, communicate, manage time, work with stress and deal with conflict. Building this awareness of ourselves and others is crucial to identify the best way to work with others.
This interactive, two-hour workshop will explore how to achieve exceptional outcomes for you and your organisation.
After this workshop you will,

  • Discover more about yourself and how this relates to the people around you
  • Understand the best ways to work with others based on their body language and behaviour

Monday 26 July 2021 | Masterclass 2 - Trust Building

Trust is usually mentioned when we talk about leading a team and how it is essential to build a high performing team. Understanding what is involved in building team trust is part of a leader’s core skill base and with the emerging
understanding of psychological safety is more essential than ever. During this session participants will learn some of the basic steps to start building trust with anyone and everyone using rapport.
This interactive, two-hour workshop will explore how to achieve exceptional outcomes for you and your organisation.
After this workshop you will,

  • Understand how to build rapport with anyone and create harmonious relationships
  • Be able to set the scene for any type of conversation
  • Know how to create a level of understanding with individuals and groups so messages are more easily

Monday 2 August 2021 | Masterclass 3 - Dynamic Delegation

Learning how to delegate effectively can be a game changer for leaders who are drowning in detail and the doing and can't find time or head space for more high value work with a future focus. Individuals who develop these skills can halve the time and double their effectiveness by delegating well. This session is targeted at emerging and established mid-level managers and aims to free them up to do more high value work. During this session participants will learn some of the basic steps to delegate effectively.
This interactive, two-hour workshop will explore how to achieve exceptional outcomes for you and your organisation.
After this workshop you will,

  • Be able to recognise when you are doing high or low value work
  • Understand the 7 steps required to go from doer to delegator
  • Have identified tasks ready to delegate to people in your team
 

Monday 9 August 2021 | Masterclass 4 - Having Difficult Conversations
6:00PM - 8:00PM

Research has shown the one of the least-developed skills in the workplace is an ability to have uncomfortable or difficult conversations. Emerging leaders seeking to develop a functioning team will need to have difficult conversations. In fact, everyone, at times needs to have conversations they would rather avoid. The outcomes of these conversations have a lot to do with how we approach them. During this session participants will learn a framework to structure their conversation.
This interactive, two-hour workshop will explore how to achieve exceptional outcomes for you and your organisation.
After this workshop you will,

  • Have a framework on hand to structure that difficult conversation
  • Be able to set yourself up for success when having conversations
  • Have more confidence to have a difficult conversation and achieve positive outcomes
