About this event

This event is intended for leaders and professionals.

The next ACS Industry Insights event will feature a panel of Australia’s foremost technology leaders:
  • The Hon Victor Dominello, Director of the Trustworthy Digital Society Hub and former NSW Minister for Digital and Customer Service
  • Dr. Theresa Dirndorfer Anderson (MACS Snr CP), Director and Chief Data/AI Ethicist, Connecting Stones
  • Angie Abdilla, Founder and Director, Old Ways, New!
  • Dr Ian Oppermann FACS CP, NSW Chief Data Scientist and Industry Professor at UTS
Following on from the launch of the publication, ‘Data and the Digital Self: What the 21st Century Needs’, the panel will present ideas concerning the development of ethical and reliable data practices to govern the use of data while maintaining its value and safety.

The event will open with Dr Theresa Anderson, an author of the publication, setting the scene about trust building in data sharing, understanding trust as a social relationship. This leads into an insightful presentation from Angie, to share her expertise in Indigenous knowledge and systems in relation to technology.

This leads into a panel discussion, facilitated by Dr Ian Oppermmann, on the following topic areas:
  • An update from The Hon Victor Dominello about what he is now doing with the UNSW/UTS Trustworthy Digital Society Hub
  • The impact of the accelerating pace of data use / digitisation
  • How trust is an ongoing process of engagement and improvement
  • The critical role that gaining and maintaining a community's trust plays in relation to the deployment of AI and data-informed technologies.
  • What is country-centred design and the impact of indigenous AI protocols
  • The availability of tools to help manage data with confidence and the importance of trust in the tech world
As Australia’s technology sector continues to grow, how we protect privacy and ensure data security is a concern to all tech professionals. The insights revealed by our speakers will go a long way to forming policies now and in the future.

Consequently, this is a great opportunity to gain industry-leading insights while being part of the conversations shaping today’s tech world. Do not miss this out! Register now.
