Join us for the inaugural launch of the ACS Skilled Journeys: Navigating IT Migration in Australia Report that provides an invaluable basis of knowledge to better understand how the current skilled migration system functions and its outcomes, both for ICT skilled migrants and employers. You’ll also hear directly from both the ICT employer and ICT skilled migrant perspectives (including a case study from JCU Technology Solutions team) on how regional migration is paying dividends, with cohorts surveyed more likely to live and stay on permanently outside Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The discussion will also explore opportunities to improve migrant outcomes through managing clear expectations (salary, job prospects) and helping employers understand the opportunities when hiring ICT skilled migrants.

By attending this event, you will learn:
  • ICT Skilled migrants has shifted onshore. Since 2020, consistently around one in five visa applications have been made from offshore, the rest onshore.
  • Why the local tertiary education sector is becoming more important in how it aligns skills of migrants with industry demand in Australia.
  • Regional challenges impacted by potential misalignment between migration and regional industry policy settings or impact of settings.
  • How to support migrants through their migration experience, which is complex and can be stressful.
  • The impact of positive employment outcomes. 95% of ICT Skilled Migrants said they secured employment in Australia, primarily within the IT sector, demonstrating effective job market integration and alignment of supply and demand.
